Hair Cuttery is a horrible place to work for lately. They have gotten really bad at pushing retail on clients and if we don't sell $80 a week,we get in trouble.I'm sorry but if customers don't want to buy it,we can't make them, why should we get fired for it.The company policy is ridiculous. We went to school to do hair not to be a salesperson. If that's what I wanted to do I would sell cars or real estate.I know clients who have stopped coming to Hair Cuttery because they felt pressured to buy.Clients come in after a hard long day at work & just want to relax, not having to listen to someone going on about purchasing something..When I started at Hair Cuttery 14yrs.ago,it wasn't like this.I loved coming to work..It was fun..Not no more..It's all about those retail numbers..Not to mention having to go to meetings and they don't want to pay because supposedly it washes out in commission..yea right ! ILLEGAL !!Or how about the 8 hr.WOW classes they don't want to pay for either but go or get fired..This company needs to be investigated...

I get bullied by my coworkers at work, I was actually screamed at by one saturday. I reported it to my leader she didn't believe me , we called our district and they believed the other woman that's been there longer than me.

I'm ready to quit, they sweep everything under the rug and don't handle problems. They reward the trouble stylist with the best days and hours.

Why is this mr. Ratner???

The bullying mentality is ridiculous at HC.

The company literally rewards it.

If the Customers only knew how Hair Cuttery treats their employees and the things they make us do they would be appalled.

Hey Dennis! you should try listening to some of these posted comments..

or stop by and actually take us aside and ask us individually in private to voice our concerns directly to you. Going through the Chain of Command hasn't helped me any. I tried several times. We feel hopeless.

And when we complain about something or complain about a Salon Leader... we get Retaliation.

I AGREE!! And they hire salon leaders that are brain washed to do exacly what they want.

Its all about the numbers at Hair Cuttery. I only work there because I live close by and have lots of loyal clientele.

But that place doesn't care about their employees at all. It's all about the Money in Ratner's pocket.

I agree 100%! I worked for the company for 7yrs and was fired cause of a power struck District Leader. This company is definitely not a good company to work for and they really need to b sued for many things such as racial discrimination

As a stylist, you ARE A SALES PERSON! Initially, you sell yourself, in order to see new client gains and client retention. Additionally, suggestive retail selling is not for the purpose of "selling", its to insure your clients are maintaining their lovely color/cut, through use of professional haircare products.

It is true, very good point. Before it was place for creation, now numbers and dictatorship.

Im a salon leader at hair cuttery, I've been with the company for 3 yrs. It is the best company to work for...they truly are all about their people and model their values.

As a stylist you make what you want, you control your pay and yes as hairstylis WE are sales people. Any salon you work at if you dont sell you wont make money. Free classes and paid time off.

You can start off earning a good paycheck if you're good and motivated. :zzz

I'm a salon leader for hair Cuttery. I have worked for the salon I'm at for 6 years ever since I finished school.

It's an incredible place to work. You are offered vacation time as well as insurance programs. 90 day probationary period is just that probationary... You should be on your best behavior.

Second you don't lose your job for not meeting your home hair care once, it's repetitive. You receive a verbal, written, point...

You get 16 points in a rolling 12 months. Do not bash a company that does so much and simply asks for you to do your part!!

Hair cuttery is for kids or people that don't care how their hair looks. Been there twice because it was convenient.

First time, shame on them. Second time, shame on me. With all your work experience, you've got to be able to find a better place to cut hair. I mean there HAS to be.

They're like the bottom feeders of salons.....if you can even call them a salon.

Get away from that joint. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I work in Northern Va. Area ....I started out as receptionist while in Beauty school ..

I worked 8 months @ that ....then I was promoted to asst salon leader ...having to step down after eight months of that position for family matters (caring for my Mother in law with dementia at home ) ...my Salon district leader understood as did my manager & her asst. I then had to take time for surgery...then a leave for my Mother in laws full time care at home ....after eight long months I have returned ...I feel as if I never walked foot out the door ....my family once again accepted that I am back & they all are excited to have meout back as a part of their team...I am proud to say I have meet Mr.Rather himself in Vegas when we went for the Redkin classes ...He is an Awesom person...I am very proud to be an employee @ Hair Cuttery....As for Retail anyone can see we have awesome hair care products ...if our clients enjoy the products when they purchace some to have at home ...

Isn't there a law in your state that you can't get fired if its for family illness? I know here in Florida they have one, they followed the law and its not because they cared.

We are all a # to them, when you call Help Desk, first question is what's your #? Not first your name and then #.

You can think what you want but most of us feel like cattles at work. So, I moved on.

Yes that place is horrible! They only care about how much money you make for THEM.

They force you to open ad close, drive to the bank without paying you and also be a housekeeper. No receptionist so you are forced to pick up the phone and sign clients in while working on your client.

No breaks and no set schedule. And they wonder why they can't get anyone to stay!!

i am a salon leader with hair cuttery and it is one the best companys i worked for.. they care about there people and always will..i am now a leader at my second hair cuttery salon there is always promotions within the company ..

and the real thing is all companys will change as years go by and as for the wow events they stop doing them for the whole salon because some salons and the employees wouldnt come so now it is just a leadership thing.. but i have the best salon team and always will..

I so agree with all these comments. I worked for Hair Cuttery as well.

The only thing that held me back from moving up a bracket in commission was RETAIL. How about the Master Stylist policy of course if someone only works 2-3 days per week at only 6 hrs a shift they are only going to see their clients or at least 90% request. Such an unfair and greedy company.

I opened my own salon 3 yrs ago thanks to Hair Cuttery I know how to NOT run a business. :)
